Biography:
Charles began his career in the publishing industry before joining the investment banking arm of Apax
Partners in 1991. Over the following years, Charles helped build Apax Partners’ media franchise. In 1999,
together with other senior management, Charles spun off the investment banking arm of Apax Partners under
the name of Altium Capital. Whilst at Altium Capital, Charles was the Managing Director responsible for
European media investment banking and was involved in a wide range of fundraising and M&A transactions.
In 2003, Charles left Altium Capital to be a co-founder of IBIS Capital, a specialist media investment and advisory business. Along with Philip and Adam, Charles was a director of Stonesthrow Media Limited until its acquisition by MAMA Group Plc on 14 December 2005, at which time he joined the MAMA Group board.
